Calen P. Monahan is an experienced trial attorney with a diverse legal background, handling complex cases in both criminal law and probate and family law. Her strong litigation skills and commitment to her clients make her a trusted advocate in high-stakes legal matters.

Calen graduated cum laude from Niagara University in 2017 before earning her Juris Doctor degree from New England School of Law in 2020. She is an active member of the bar in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

During her undergraduate studies, Calen served as a judicial assistant in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York under the Honorable Justice Glenn T. Suddaby, where she gained valuable experience in federal court proceedings. While in law school, Calen was a Dean’s List recipient and earned a position on the New England Law Review, where she served as an Associate Staff Member (2018-2019) and later as an Executive Article Editor (2019-2020).

In addition to her academic achievements, Calen gained practical legal experience as a legal assistant at Bassil & Budreau, LLP, specializing in domestic relations and criminal defense (2018-2019), and as a judicial intern for Justice Robert Tochka at Suffolk Superior Court (2019). Since joining McGrath & Kane, Calen has expanded her practice to include family law, representing clients in high-net-worth divorce cases, paternity suits, child custody disputes, post-judgment modifications, and contempt actions. Her diverse background in criminal law provides her with a unique perspective in handling complex domestic relations cases, particularly those involving intricate legal and financial issues.

In her first year at McGrath & Kane, Calen secured a Not Guilty verdict for her client after a jury trial and has successfully resolved numerous criminal cases with favorable outcomes for her clients. Calen also handles a variety of other legal matters, such as restraining orders, harassment prevention orders, petitions to seal records, motions for new trials, and motions for reconsideration on various legal issues.
